20th June 2016 - 15th February 2017

Working in Uniqlo has been a hell of an experience. I hated it at first to be honest. The first time I walked into the staff room, I had to watch a 2 hours long video about Uniqlo's standards, and why they're one of the best in the world. I was then taken on a tour around the store where I had to memorise the names of all the fixtures and the location's name, on that day itself! What!

I dreaded going to work my next day.

And then I had my first morning shift, and it was even worse. I was introduced to the nightmare of ever junior staff: Hataki and FXCL. We had to carry a beating stick and a duster and beat the crap out of all the clothes in the store. Then we dust the entire fixture. And you have to do it really fast. It was insane, it gave me blisters, and I was sneezing like hell. I didn't want to do morning shift ever again, but I didn't have a choice, really.

Then I was introduced to layouts! Holy shit those are tiring as heck man. Imagine changing the entire layout of the store manually in the morning! That includes changing shelves to wagons, changing the prices, changing the posters, and then taking out the clothes and replacing them. All that after cleaning the store. Uniqlo has a reputation for being one of the toughest retail stores (because Japanese people amirite), and they really earn it.

But of course, as with all things, things got better. And then it got harder. And then it got better again.

Uniqlo has become such a huge part of my life, some of us joked about losing our soul to the company. I've adopted so many weird quirks after working with my favourite clothing store. Knocking on ANY door before I enter it, handing cash with two hands and resisting the urge to bow, and also eyeballing people wearing uniqlo on the streets.

I even miss our morning team talks.. Haha.

Oh well, it's been a blast. I miss all my colleagues and I wish I could stay longer, but of course life still comes first. So thank you everyone for making my stay in Uniqlo so memorable, thank you bitchy customers for giving us something to talk about after work.

Thank you for your hard work! Have a good day at work!
